They show up fashionably (about two hours) late, but when they arrive its as if time had never parted us.Īnd yes, we have the occasional drop-ins, visitors, and joyous annoyances. Next to them are Andrew and Tyron (“Turtle”) who I have known since the elementary years. They’re Gordon and Eric, best buds as long as I can remember. Though we are not close, we are acquaintances that luckily get the invite by default. Last, but damn not least, are a peculiar group of four. I enjoy their presence but at times throughout the evening I felt that they were absent, only to flea early. They keep to themselves for the most part, only due to some rifts buried deep in our pasts. Sitting close to him in distance are Lexi (another) and Taylor. He speaks of his epic tales of freshman year at college as smoke puffs break each spoken syllable. He’s laughing with everyone and is certainly the smile of the gathering. But take caution, she may fall from the toilet, midstream, and torture your pets with love. She’s a bartender at heart, I swear, and a party animal for sure. I didn't really think that a friend of mine from high school would reach out to me and when she mentioned "she's Catholic, just like you" I didn't really think anything of it. But I knew something was going to happen. J, I remember the drive on the way to your house I felt this feeling. Until one day I wanted to get my hair cut (and not by the crappy workers at Great Clips) and one day I noticed something at church. For a little while things were silent and things got to where I didn't really think he was hearing me. I prayed every day that He would put someone in my life, just one friend who understood me. He took my friends I had for 12 years and I was stranded. I was in my dorm room and I felt that the Lord took everyone away from me. Dear J and L,When people ask me "what was one moment that God revealed himself to you?" I always reply with "when he gave me two people that have impacted my life and my heart tremendously." I then go on to explain my first year of college.
